Product Description To what distance would you go for your one true love? In a future filled with a boundless potential for interstellar peace and prosperity, Mikako joins a research team to explore the recent contact between humans and alien races. She ventures out into space, leaving behind Noboru, the one young man she loves. As she travels deeper into this new frontier, her only connection with her boyfriend is through cell-phone text messages. But the years pass, and Mikako barely ages in the timelessness of space--while Noboru grows older and considers moving on with his life...In this timeless romance between star-crossed lovers in the most tragic of settings, there are some places man may not be ready to go.

a longer telling of the movie October 25, 2008 the movie of the same name and the same subject was amazing, and so is this manga. this telling of the story has a happier ending than the movie, and has more details. but i like the movie slightly better. you should read/see both and decide for yourself. you will enjoy both versions of a beautiful and sad story.
If you liked the anime... August 27, 2008 Then you'll love the manga. It seems more "finished" than the anime - you aren't left -quite- as wondering. It's a bit more in-depth and you really see the development of the two main characters' lives throughout their separation - what happens while they're apart, what it takes for them to hold each other in their memories. All in all this has to be one of my favorite manga, and I really wish it wasn't a standalone.
Hoshi No Koe Review May 30, 2008 While browsing through the shelves of manga in my local Books A Million, to my surprise I stumbled upon this particular manga, and was stunned by the cover artwork. I don't know why; it just took my breath away, it was so beautiful. Flipping through the pages, I was pleased to see that the entire manga was full of amazing artwork, and not just the cover page, as is the case with many other manga. The manga goes more in depth than the anime, showing us the details of Mikako-san's life in the deep recesses of space and Noboru-san's life back on Earth without her. The ending is slightly different, but doesn't change the experience. When I read the last words of the last page, a rush of emotion overcame me, and it was a nice feeling. Such a heartbreaking yet hearthealing story.br /br /Overall, I actually enjoyed the manga-version more than the anime-version. However, I recommend watching the anime first. I highly recommend it for fans of the anime, readers of manga, or anyone interested in beautiful love stories.
One of the most beautiful love stories January 10, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was really suprised to learn that "Hoshi no Koe" actually had a manga version, which was illustrated by Sumomo Yumeka (a.k.a. Mizu Sahara). Just as I thought, the book was gorgeous and the "feelings" were beautifully conveyed. I fell in love with this wonderful love story once again after reading the book!!br /br /For those who love the anime: this is a must have!! Get it now or you will regret it!!br /For those who have never watched the anime or read the book before: same as above. This heartwarming (as well as heartbreaking) love story is not something to miss.
