| Customer Reviews:
NOT a Shonen Ai Manga September 22, 2008 I love this manga series. There are a lot of great characters and the story is pretty interesting, especially as time goes on. However, I find this first volume to be a bit slow (hence the 3 star rating). If you aren't impressed with this volume I'd recommend reading a little further on before you make a definite decision about it. br /br /A very important note: The Monochrome Factor manga is COMPLETELY FREE OF BOYS' LOVE (aka shonen ai or yaoi). This is extremely different from the anime, which is heavily peppered with these themes. br /br /Also, whether or not you like male-on-male action, the manga is far superior to the anime in terms of both character development and story. The anime is full of ridiculous filler episodes (about 15 of the 20 or so that have aired have no basis whatsoever in the manga). So please do not let the anime deter you from trying out this manga.
Forget the monsters under your bed... April 1, 2008 The monsters are no longer under your bed, they are now everywhere - most people just can't see them. Akira is a typical slacker until he meets a stranger who asks him to come to school late that night. Akira refuses, but is tricked and ends up there anyway. When the monsters show up, Akira is frightened and confused. Thinking that he is being tricked, Akira runs off. Unfortunately, he falls through the divide between the light and shadow worlds. The only way to save his life is for him to become a shadow warrior and fight the monsters. Learning that he now must team up with Shirogane in order to have a semblance of a normal life just puts the topping on his bad day. And what about being the Chosen One...?br /This series has a good balance of comedy and action, with a portion of drama thrown in. Seeing how Akira starts coping with his changed life shows that there is more to him than meets the eye. His efforts at trying to keep his condition a secret will make you laugh, and have your friends wanting to borrow this. Enjoy!
Monochrome Factor Rocks!!!! March 21, 2008 I love everything about this book!! The characters are great! First there is Akira the ultimate slacker thrown into this dangerous situation by Shirogane this shadow like being. Then there is the disaplinary girl Aya who is always on Akira's case which usually involves yelling and violence. Oh and let's not forget Kengo, Akira's friend who is always being blown off by Akira, and Kengo's loud sister Mayu who can see spirits and has a soft spot for cute guys!!! With all these character the story is sooo funny!!! Don't worry there is also lots of action and fighting! This book is a real page turner and I am glad that I brought it!!!
